Garlic and Chilli Wild Banana Prawns on Rösti

A different and interesting dish. Very tasty.


  • 1 kg Wild Banana Prawns.
  • 4 Cloves Garlic, finely chopped.
  • 1 Teaspoon fresh Chilli, finely chopped.
  • ½ cup Olive Oil.
  • 2 Large Potatoes, peeled.
  • 4 Spring Onions, finely chopped.
  • Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper.
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil.
  • 1 Lemon, quartered.


Peel and clean the Prawns.

Combine Garlic and Chilli with Olive Oil in a shallow dish. Add the Prawns and set aside to develop the flavours.

Grate, rinse and drain the Potatoes and squeeze dry. Mix with the Spring Onions and season with Salt and Pepper.

Heat the oil in a frypan and press rounds of the mixture into the pan using a metal ring or pastry cutter. Cook gently till golden brown on both sides.

Remove the Prawns from the marinade and cook on both sides in a hot pan or on a barbeque plate for two to three minutes or till just cooked.

Serve the Potato Rosti with the Prawns and a squeeze of Lemon Juice.

Serves 4.
